Q. What kind of bathing suit to wear?
I’m unfortunately pear shaped and NOT confident enough to strut my stuff in a bikini. I’m 5’6-5’7 and i have a tummy :( and I have some body issues and I am afraid of wearing a swimsuit in front of other people. I’m not very comfortable with going to the beach but I’m going on Spring Break. HELP!
(When it comes to style, I am pretty sure people are wondering the same things you are, so if you need any style advice, be brave and ASK. (click link to ask))
A.
Having a pear body shape is not unfortunate, so cheer up!. Just like any body type tall and skinny or hourglass shaped, you just need to find what flatters your body. A Few easy styles much like the following can help.

Cracking the Code to Double Denim

Mastering the Double Denim look may get a little confusing. I know a couple of years back you would of never wore a denim top with a denim bottom. But since fashion isn’t fashion without new seasons, trends and new looks (hey we gotta make money some how), the new becomes old and the old becomes new faster then you can say “Denim.” With the horrible images of denim on denim from the past, like lets say for example, the Justin Timberlake head to toe denim look that we all can’t get out of our heads, it may be hard to take that risk. Taking the risk isn’t difficult after you have cracked the code by following a few of these five easy rules. WARNING: You may get tired of reading the word denim over and over again, if you already haven’t so continue on at your own risk.
1. Add a bright colored accessory - Adding bright colors helps to offset the look.
2. Double Denim Means Double Denim- Simply put, Don’t pull a J.T. Ladies & Gents.
3. MIx & Match- Try different washes to pull off an “Instyle” Chic look.
4. Offset the look w/ Neutrals- Try a black or brown belt and a matching bag.
5. If all else fails- Wear a denim dress.
Bonus: If you really want to look like you know what you’re doing. Layer Layer Layer!!!

The art of surrelism thrives on unexpected juxtapostions. Designer in the 1920’s Elsa Schiaparelli was the master of that in fashion. With her famous lobster dress, lip buttons, shoe hats, and finger nail gloves Schiparelli won over the world of fashion, proving that fashion is not just about clothing and style but about true art. In the Upcoming exhibition at the Metropolitan Meuseum of Art, Elsa Schiaparelli & Muiccia Prada: Impossible Conversations, her work along with Pradas is honored to include how both have mastered the art of surrelism and influenced the world of fashion in a very unique manner. Last night at the met gala, both designers were recognized in more ways than one, while celeberties walked down the red carpet in Schiaprellis signature shocking pink, and pradas most surrealist designs. Anna Wintour even wore a specially made prada dress with a sequin gold lobster in reference to Schiaparelli.

Everyone can feel like a fashion Icon especially now with the Altuzarra for Jcrew collection. Inspired by Bridgett Bardot in St.Tropez the collection embodies true French style with a modern & perhaps Jcrew preppy twist. My favorite of the items in the collection are the Corrine espadrilles, a comfortable shoe that screams out french fashion icon. So go ahead do not be afraid to become you own fashion icon and shop the collection on Jcrew.com
Line Breaks

This season like every season designers brought about many similar concepts in their clothing. One being the use of line breaks, which if brought about the right way can have great slimming and body shaping effects on the wearer. Some styles had slimming effects while other line breaks had elongating effects. The top three examples, among them being the Prada swimsuit create different body shapes. The first, slims down the bosom area, with its vertical line breaks. The second Prada bathing suit and the third look from Prabal Gurung have great body shape shifters in that they literally create an hourglass shape through their designs.
